I agree, Clapton was definitely the highlight of the evening for me - honest, high quality playing and not at all pretentious like a few others mentioned - a class act from start to finish. The Waters/Vedder thing was interesting, but not very satisfying - the way that Waters pranced up and down that stage, and then stopping at points to bask in some strange sense of self-perceived adulation, completely diminished any cred or goodwill, very off-putting.

I don't know about others that were watching on ION television, but here in Frostbite Falls, Sir Paul's set was pre-empted in favor of wrestling!??! At first, I thought it was some strange joke, but after a few moments of pre-pugilism prancing and preening, I realized that it was no joke or confused feed transfer in the studio. There appeared to be no warning or apology about the drastic change in vibe and scenery that my tv was projecting - a strange, premature end to their concert coverage that was advertised as "from start to finish, and without commercial breaks". Quelle barbe!! Anyone else experience this in your neck of the woods?

Thanks for stating what I felt - that Clapton was strong, with all due credit going to Willie Weeks and Steve Jordan - the unsung musical heroes of the night. I also thought that Macca was pretty good and I enjoyed the tune he played with Nirvana/Foos' folks (Novoselic, Grohl and Smears). ANd like Mr. Zimmerman, I also keep looking for Alicia Keys.

Kanye was just sad - some of those studio cuts just did not transfer to the live setting. It was bad.

I watched on G4 network and there was no interruption.

Yes, same thing happened to me here in DC, but I was off to bed in any case by then. I think it happened at 12:30.
